Christmas Letter From The Commodore

December 24, 2020 Off By brsailingclub

Dear BRSC Members,

I just wanted to write to you as we draw to the end of this pretty rotten year. No-one could have predicted how long this COVID situation would last and back in March it was all very new to us. As we found out more information it became quite daunting; we had to make a lot of changes, including closing the club for parts of the year, but throughout you have ALL remained so supportive of our decisions and the new measures that we had to implement to ensure we made the club environment safe for everyone. For that, I would like to thank you very much!

This Christmas has followed in the ever changing COVID tradition, and we now know that there are tighter restrictions than we first thought. The Committee are as disappointed as you that we have been unable to open and enjoy the usual fabulous festive celebrations that we normally do. BRSC and its members always put on wonderful events and Christmas and New Year is a very special time at the club. The children’s party is always enjoyed by so many (children and adults alike) and they love being visited by our very own special Santa. This is also the first year that many of us will not be able to enjoy our Christmas Eve Carols where the mulled wine, homemade mince pies and sausage rolls go down almost as well as the very enthusiastic BRSC version of The Twelve Days of Christmas!

It is a great shame that this couldn’t all happen this year, but I hope that you all manage to celebrate Christmas and New Year in some way and can see some of your family members. I really hope that this situation changes for the better as we begin 2021 and that we can begin to regain some sort of normality. We all want to be back in the club seeing each other and enjoying sailing and socialising again as soon as possible.

Once again, I can’t thank you enough for all of your support during this year as well as all the hard work from the Committee who have been working alongside me behind the scenes in what can only be described as a very challenging year. Both their and your support has really made a difference.

Please stay safe and healthy and have a wonderful Christmas.

Warmest wishes,
Rachael
