Club Update – Tier 2 Government Restrictions

November 27, 2020 Off By brsailingclub

Hi Everyone.

We hope you're all safe and well and during this second lock down.

Following the latest Government update we now know that, as of December 2nd, West Sussex will fall into Tier 2 restrictions. Full details of what these restrictions mean can be found on the Gov UK website. For a summary of what these restrictions mean for our club, please see below.

The Bar
Unfortunately the Tier 2 restrictions state "pubs and bars must close, unless operating as restaurants. Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals" (i.e. not just a packet of pork scratchings or organising a takeaway). As we are unable to offer this service the bar will remain closed until further notice.

Water Activities
According to Tier 2 restrictions "organised outdoor sport, and physical activity and exercise classes can continue." This means windsurfers and other water users can use the club grounds to access their equipment and set up for water activities, however you should still abide by the "Rule of Six" (please see below - Access To Club Grounds - for more information) and maintain social distancing at all times.

Please refer to the document online for updated details on Phase 3 of our BRSC Back To Sailing Framework.

Access To Club Building
During Phase 1 of our Phased Return Of Opening we opened the toilets for members at the weekends in the summer. However, during the winter season we will not be able to open / monitor / clean the toilets and changing rooms which means they will remain closed during this time.

Access To Club Grounds
Members can meet on the lawn and water users can use the grounds to access equipment and rig up, but when doing so please remember to abide by The Rule of Six which states "you must not socialise in a group of more than 6 people outside, including in a garden or a public space..." and maintain social distancing. If members are found to be breaching this rule the individuals and the club may be subjected to a serious fine which could jeopardise our ability to re-open.

The tier system is due to be reviewed by the Government over the next few weeks and we will update you if anything changes regarding the opening of the club.

Thank you once again for all your support. Please stay safe and we hope to see you again soon.
