BRSC Response to Government Announcement

May 11, 2020 Off By BRSC Updates

Dear Members,

Many of you will have seen/heard the Prime Minister’s statement in which he outlined the potential roadmap for the next steps. As you will have learnt during the broadcast, a 60-page document has been published by the government (https://www.gov.uk/…/our-plan-to-rebuild-the-uk-governments…) and, as a club, we need time to study the details. Although some activities are now being permitted, there is not any mention of water activities within the document, therefore we are awaiting further clarity from the Government in addition to the RYA and RNLI.

BRSC is also in regular contact with other sailing clubs in the area to ensure that we all follow the same steps in returning to your much loved sport.

Your Committee is meeting on Tuesday evening (via Zoom) and will give careful consideration to any changes it is appropriate to make, if applicable, to the current arrangements. We will publish a further notice, once the implications for the sailing community have hopefully become clearer and we as a club can guarantee that the safety measures needed can be implemented.

But, for the moment we have to maintain the current situation and therefore no changes are being made to the clubs stance on water activities or opening of the clubhouse and grounds.

I am sure you will understand how vital it is that we proceed cautiously at this important stage, so as to keep us all safe and we thank you for your continued support.

Best wishes,
Rachael and BRSC Committee
